Unpredictability

Knowing the path, and walking through it is entirely different thing. People often get lost even if they know the path.

Lack of courage, motivation, confidence, or willingness may be some of reasons. In some case, people even want to get lost. Some other eventually reach their destiny, and discontinue their journey. Uncertainty makes the journey more attractive as walking on the known path is boring.
